Icons Preview

Content Editor Icons Preview

  • The Content Editor Configure >> Icons command should display the most commonly used icons
  • This will reduce the need to rummage through the entire icon library for commonly used icons
  • You can easily add and remove icons for the Configure >> Icons command
    • Locate the <Site Root Folder>\App_Config\icons.config file in the file system 
    • Add and remove icon paths under the appropriate category name in the pipe delimited lists

Removing Icons from the Content Editor Icons Preview

  • Locate the <Site Root Folder>\App_Config\icons.config file in the file system
  • Delete the icon paths under the appropriate category name in the pipe delimited lists
  • Save the changes to the file

Removing Sections from the Content Editor Icons Preview

  • Locate the <Site Root Folder>\App_Config\icons.config file in the file system
  • Delete the opening and closing collection tags and the pipe delimited list of icons between them for each section to be removed
  • Save the changes to the file

Adding Icons to the Content Editor Icons Preview

  • Locate the <Site Root Folder>\App_Config\icons.config file in the file system
  • Add the icon paths under the appropriate category name in the pipe delimited lists
  • Save the changes to the file

Adding Sections to the Content Editor Icons Preview

  • Locate the <Site Root Folder>\App_Config\icons.config file in the file system
  • Add an opening and closing collection tag for the category to be added
  • The category name must match one of the standard Sitecore categories
  • You can use one of these two methods to determine the standard Sitecore category names
    • Open the icon viewer in the Content Editor to view categories in the dropdown list
    • Go to the /<website>/sitecore/shell/themes/standard folder and examine the names of the zip files
  • Add a delimited list of the icon paths for icons from that category to be included in the preview window
  • Add the icon paths  between the opening and closing collection tag for the category
  • Save the changes to the file
  • Example:
