Default Save Actions

  • Web Forms for Marketers (WFFM) contains seventeen default Save Actions
  • Save Actions are used to specify what is done when visitors click the Submit Button on a form
  • A Submit Button can have multiple Save Actions assigned to it

Change Password

  • Changes a Sitecore user’s password
  • The user is identified based on the values selected in the User Name and Domain fields
  • You can only use password fields in the form for the Old Password and New Password fields
  • The value of the field selected in the Old Password field is used to verify the username and password of the Sitecore user

Enroll in Engagement Plan

  • Places a visitor in a specific state in an Engagement Plan once they successfully submit the form
  • Used to place a visitor in a specific state in an Engagement Plan with the information from the form

Create Item

  • Creates a new item in a specified location of the Content Tree using a specified data template
  • You must configure which field values from the form will be stored in which item fields

Create User

  • Creates a new Sitecore user account based on the information in specified form fields
  • Checks whether the user already exists
    • A new user account is created when the user does not exist
    • The user’s information is updated when the user account already exists
  • The User Name field is a required field that is used to uniquely identify the user
    • You must select an email field from the form to make the user name unique
    • This is created using the format: “localpart_at_domain_dot_topleveldomain” 

Edit Role in Membership

  • Adds a Sitecore user to a role, or removes the user from a role
  • When a user account does not exist, it is created with a randomly generated password
  • See the guidelines described in the Create User Save Action

Logout

  • Logs a Sitecore user out if the user is logged in and the form is submitted successfully

User Login

  • Logs a Sitecore user in based on the values entered into selected form fields
  • Can be used to log a user in even if no password is provided
  • The User Name field and Domain field are used to identify the user
  • Select the 'Associate existing user with this visitor' check box to link the visitor’s browser, IP, and geographical information with the user

User Login with Password

  • Logs a Sitecore user in based on values entered into selected form fields
  • Verifies that the user account exists and does not proceed if the account does not exist
  • Checks whether the password provided is valid

Save to Database

  • Saves the form data to a predefined database
  • Once saved, the data can be exported or viewed in WFFM Form Reports
  • Both MSSQL and SQLite databases are supported
  • Use the forms.config file to specify the database

Send Email Campaign Message

  • Requires the Email Campaign Manager module to be installed
  • Provides integration between the Web Forms for Marketers module and Email Campaign Manager
  • Send standard email messages using the Email Campaign Manager module
    • Used with the Subscribe to Target Audience save action
    • Standard messages require membership of specific Target Audience

Send Email Message

  • Sends an e-mail using the Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP)
  • The recipient and body of the e-mail can be unique for each form
  • Use a semi-colon (;) to separate addresses in the To and CC fields
  • The settings that are defined using this editor are stored in the form item
  • Email server configuration information is set separately for WFFM
    • Go to /sitecore/system/Modules/Web Forms for Marketers/Settings/Actions/Save Actions/Send Mail
    • Set values for <Host>example.host</Host>From>example@mail.net</From>IsBodyHtml>true</IsBodyHtml>

Send MMS

  • Sends a Multimedia Messaging Service (MMS) multimedia message to a mobile device when a visitor clicks the Submit button
  • The recipient and body of the message can be unique for each form
  • MMS is a standard way to send messages that include multimedia content to and from mobile phones

Send SMS

  • Sends a Short Message Service (SMS) text message to a mobile device when a visitor clicks the Submit button
  • The recipient and body of the message can be unique for each form
  • The message is sent in plain text and is limited by SMS to 160 characters

Subscribe to Target Audience

  • Requires the Email Campaign Manager module to be installed
  • Provides integration between the Web Forms for Marketers module and Email Campaign Manager
  • Use the Email Campaign Manager to dispatch messages related to a specific topic once they have been subscribed

Tell a Friend

  • Sends a predefined email to another person
  • The configuration for the Send Email Message Save Action must be completed for this to work
  • Uses the values entered in specific form fields to compose the email

Register a Conversion

  • Registers a conversion for an existing goal
  • Differs from the Register Goal system action that registers the successful completion of the form
  • Can be set to only register a conversion when a visitor selects a specified check box in the form
  • All the check box and list fields in the form are displayed in the Register Conversion dropdown list

Register a Campaign

  • Registers a person submitting a form with a campaign once they successfully submit the form
  • A dialog box appears to select the campaign to associate with the form
  • Associate a campaign with the form, not a campaign category
