Placeholder Settings Fields

  • Developers define allowed controls so business users have a selection of renderings to choose from
  • Developers set description so business users have a display of location information when the placeholder is selected in the Page Editor
  • Developers assign Write permissions to users/roles who will need to use Placeholder Settings in Page Editor

Sitecore Placeholder Settings Guidelines

  • Use unique names for placeholder keys so each Placeholder Settings item can only be associated with one Sitecore placeholder
  • Placeholder Settings names should be unique to make them easier to work with for business users
  • Uncheck the Editable check-box to disable the ability to add controls to a particular placeholder in the Page Editor
  • Block Write access on a placeholder setting item for an account to disable the ability to configure the associated placeholder
