Thumbnails Display

Displaying Thumbnails in the Media Library

  • Add a <thumbnails> element to the <mediaType> section in web.config
    • This element defines how the default thumbnail for a media asset will be generated
    • Thumbnails are generated on disk and cached like other requests for media items
    • Identity the correct <mediaType> element that requires a thumbnail
  • The thumbnail is displayed in the media field when the media item is selected in the Media Library

Displaying Thumbnails in the Page Editor

  • Select a rendering or sublayout in the Layout portion of the Content Editor Tree
  • Add a check to the Standard Fields checkbox in the View tab
  • Locate the Thumbnail field in the Appearance section
  • Click one of the field commands in the Field Header to select a thumbnail
    • Click the "Take a Screenshot" command to generate a thumbnail image
    • Click the "Browse" command to assign an existing Media Library image
  • The thumbnail is displayed in the floating toolbar pop-up dialog-boxes
