General Errors

Behavior: The installation cannot be performed or does not complete successfully

Issue: Various issues or issues unknown

Solution:
  1. Verify that Sitecore is installed as a standard web site under IIS, not as a virtual directory
  2. Copy the log file right after an unsuccessful installation or the file will be overwritten because the log file is recreated during each installation
  3. Run the installation again with the Verbose setting if the installation program fails before you click “Install” in the “Ready to Install” dialog box
  4. Use Setup.exe /V”/log log.txt” to generate a verbose installation log file.  The log is created in the same folder as the .exe file
  5. File a support case in the Sitecore support portal providing screen shots and compressed log file
