Dynamic Binding

Dynamic Binding

Dynamic Binding

  • The practice of defining a placeholder in a layout or sublayout and associating different controls to the placeholder for different items
  • Allows for the substitution of controls on layouts and sublayouts at the time the page is built
  • One or more controls can be associated with each placeholder
  • Enables layouts and sublayouts to be reused for different page displays across the site

Sitecore Dynamic Binding Guidelines

  • Control bindings are typically configured on the Template Standard Values (TSV)
  • Control bindings are configured on individual items only when a binding on the TSV already exists and a rendering override is required
  • Avoid too many layers and an overly complex implementation that is difficult to troubleshoot
